Dimitris Agrafiotis

Dimitris Agrafiotis, PhD, FRSC, is the chief digital officer at Generate:Biomedicines, where he leads multidisciplinary teams across technology, data science, automation, and digital transformation to support the rapid growth of the machine learning-powered biotech.

Most recently, he was vice president of Pfizer Digital, where he was responsible for the digital strategy and portfolio for Pfizer’s worldwide research, development and medical organization. Previously, he was the chief information officer of the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research, where he led Novartis’ global digital and informatics organization for its research and early development division. Prior to Novartis, Dimitris was chief data officer and head of technology products at Covance, where he developed a multi-award-winning clinical platform used by many biopharmaceutical companies around the world to improve the design, execution, and monitoring of clinical trials.

During his career, Dimitris has co-authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, and he holds 18 U.S.-issued patents. Dimitris received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Patras in 1985, a doctorate degree in theoretical chemistry from Imperial College London in 1988, and completed postdoctoral fellowships at the University of California, Berkeley and Harvard, where he worked with Nobel laureate EJ Corey.
